Tom has been involved with RCS as a coach and program facilitator since 1997 and now also works part-time as an advisor.
Tom returned to run the family sheep and cattle property north of Goondiwindi in 1972 following boarding school and a UQ Commerce degree in Brisbane.
After seeing their breeding business and land slowly deteriorate over 20 years with higher inputs and lower returns, he attended GrazingforProfit® (GFP) in 1993. Tom and his wife Jan joined ExecutiveLink® in the same year, and in 1996 he repeated GFP with Jan. Following this Tom has completed several Applied Grazing (now RCS Grazing Clinic), Bio-Business and Farming & GrazingforProfit courses.
The Hungerford’s land business grew grass and converted it into meat dollars on 2,800 ha of Brigalow Melon-Hole country. They traded cattle into a range of markets. One mob, including agistment cattle, grazed some 80 paddocks as one cell over the whole place. The vision for their business was to produce consistent profit while improving the land, and once Tom and Jan achieved this, they chose to leave Farleigh Downs and continue their vision.
Tom and Jan have now retired and reside in Brisbane, QLD, where Tom provides remote advisory services by phone, video call and email.
