For Dom Walker, agriculture has always been about more than simply producing food. It is about people, landscapes, and making sure farm businesses are set up to thrive for generations into the future. As a senior advisor and coach with RCS, Dom works alongside producers to help them build profitable businesses while caring for the land that supports them.
Dom comes from Victoria’s high country, where he and his family run a small beef herd in the foothills of Mount Buffalo. Their farm is very much a reflection of Dom’s values. With a strong focus on soil health and carbon sequestration, it shows how grazing businesses can be productive, resilient, and environmentally sound at the same time.
With a combined Masters degree in Agricultural Science and Food Systems, Dom brings a strong scientific foundation to his work. However, most of his learning has happened outside the classroom. His career has taken him across Australia and Latin America, where he spent years working with farming families to understand the real-world challenges of improving soil health and farm performance to build resilience to climate shocks.
Before returning home, Dom worked in countries including Guatemala, Honduras, Peru, Colombia, and Timor-Leste, mainly within coffee and horticulture systems. These experiences shaped his practical, systems-based approach and reinforced the importance of linking good agronomy with sound business decisions.
More recently, Dom has been completing the CREATE Down Under coaching program with Nicole Masters and Meagan Lannan, building his agroecological coaching tool kit. He can now delve deep into soil, plant, and animal production systems with a new set of diagnostics!
Whether he is in the paddock or the boardroom, Dom remains deeply connected to the biology that underpins agriculture. Dom now leads our world-renowned ExecutiveLink program, where he supports and challenges the leaders of Australian agriculture to be the best they can be, and he is eager to see this program grow and flourish.
