I was fortunate to visit a couple of Aminya Pastoral properties in the Central West of Queensland recently for the purpose of grazing management planning and was really taken with how prepared the managers were, not only for the visit but more importantly, how well they were prepared for timely, ongoing decision-making.
What did they have at hand?
The above seems like a lot of stuff, but these managers recorded all this information by maintaining either paper Grazing Charts or MaiaGrazing, and each planned with RCS Graze Period calculator, and maintained RCS Feed Budget and Monthly Stockflow. Each month, data would be transferred from pocket notebooks into the Grazing Chart and the Monthly Stockflow.
Job done and records at hand for informed, calm decision-making.
Importantly, each manager was provided with tools, expectations, accountability and support from the management chain.
